Are Your Numbers Driving Decisions Or Just Reporting?

Mark Stanley

Fact: Most leadership teams I work with aren’t lacking data.

They’re lacking useful data.

Here’s how you can tell.

Look at your last leadership meeting.

Think about your scorecard.

Now ask yourself one question…

“What decision did these numbers drive?”

If the answer is unclear, your scorecard isn’t doing its job.

A strong scorecard doesn’t just report. It triggers action.

A number goes red. You identify the issue. You solve it.

That’s the rhythm.

But when numbers are vague, inconsistent, or not tied to ownership, something else happens.

You discuss. You explain. You move on. And the same issue shows up again next week.

Let’s make this simple.

Every number on your scorecard should be:

  • Clear
  • Weekly
  • Owned by one person

If it’s missing one of those, it’s probably not helping you.

This is the shift most teams need. Not more data. Better structure around the data they already have.

Stay on track,
